- Aggregating View DataPigmentExecution skill. Use when a View needs totals or subtotals, when a value must roll up with something other than Sum (average, min, max, count, last), when a snapshot metric adds up across time instead of holding, or when a ratio, percentage, growth or variance metric shows a wrong total.
- Analyzing ViewsPigmentGuide for determining which filters apply and how — covering both on-board queries (where the view is provided in user visible context) and headless queries (where the view is not provided in the user visible context). Use when the query involves filtering, slicing, grouping, or applying board page selectors — before planning filters, or before calling the get_views tool or search_views tool.
- Architecting Multi Application SolutionsPigmentPlanning skill. Use when deciding how to split work across Pigment applications, designing Hub-and-spoke data flows, or planning Test & Deploy across environments.
- Auditing A Pigment ApplicationPigmentExecution skill. Use when auditing, reviewing, or health-checking a Pigment application. Covers the structured audit checklist, severity classification, and output format. Also triggers on requests to clean up, find unused blocks, assess model quality, or find what is wrong with an application.
- Building A Full ApplicationPigmentPlanning skill. Use when building a complete Pigment application from scratch or when the request spans multiple modeling phases. This skill, together with any other planning skill the request calls for, is sufficient to produce the full architecture spec; do not load execution skills until the spec is approved and you begin building blocks.
- Building Pigment FramesPigmentUse this skill whenever you're building, updating, or troubleshooting a Pigment Frame — a full-page, custom-coded visualisation (JavaScript, canvas, or inline SVG) that reads Pigment data through the PigmentSDK.
- Building Versions And Planning CyclesPigmentExecution skill. Use when implementing versions, planning cycles, or actuals vs forecast separation, and whenever realized data is extended into a plan or budget — loading actuals then planning the remaining periods, forecasting forward from actuals, Actual/Budget/Plan layering, plan vs actual variance — even when the request never uses the word version.
- Choosing Formula PatternsPigmentPlanning skill. Use before writing formulas to decide which patterns and modifiers are needed for the use case. Maps business requirements to formula pattern combinations.
- Copying Metric DataPigmentUse this skill when a user wants to create a Pigment metric-to-metric copy import/config to freeze formula values, reduce recalculation, seed/refresh a metric, stage validated data, prepare export metrics, or copy data between metrics. It cannot run, schedule, delete, update existing configs, use snapshots/recovered apps, or configure selective mappings.
- Creating Dimensions And HierarchiesPigmentExecution skill. Use when creating or modifying dimension lists (hierarchies) and dimension properties
- Creating Metrics And TablesPigmentExecution skill. Load it before the first `create_metric` or `bulk_update_metrics` call; never create or change a metric without loading it first. Use when creating metrics or tables, selecting metric data types, or finalizing metric structure.
- Creating Transaction ListsPigmentExecution skill. Use when creating a transaction list, and whenever you aggregate rows from a transaction list into a metric — including a list that already exists in the application.
- Designing Boards And ViewsPigmentExecution skill. Use when creating or editing a Board, a dashboard, or a View -- board sections and layout on the 12-column grid, widgets and their sizing (KPI, chart, grid, text, spacer, action button), board page selectors and their defaults, view pivots (rows / columns / pages), breaking down by or per a dimension, filters, sorts, totals, chart type and configuration, cell formatting, and…
- Designing Pigment FramesPigmentApply Pigment's visual design language to a new or existing Frame - use when the Frame should look Pigment-like: on-brand, native, or less generic. Do not use it when the user gives their own design requirements (a brand, a palette, screenshots, or a look to match). This skill contains the Pigment design system, foundations, patterns, styles, typography and color schemes.
- Diagnosing Performance IssuesPigmentExecution skill. Use when a Pigment application has slow calculations, timeouts, or when diagnosing performance bottlenecks. Covers profiler interpretation, scope chip reading, systematic troubleshooting workflow, and iterative calculation optimization.
- Editing An Existing ApplicationPigmentPlanning skill. Use when modifying, extending, refactoring, or restructuring an existing Pigment application. Covers discovery, impact analysis, change planning, and phased execution. Do not use for greenfield builds (use building-a-full-application instead).
- Forecasting In PigmentPigmentExecution skill. Use when creating forecasts or choosing between growth-rate hypotheses and statistical forecasting functions.
- Formatting And HighlightingPigmentExecution skill. Use when applying metric default formatting — decimals, prefix, suffix, currency ($/€), percent (%), K/M/bp/thousand/million scaling, thousand separator, sign / zero / negative handling, text mode (Text / Rich Text / URL / Image / LocaleDateTime), boolean display (checkbox / button).
- Gathering Architecture RequirementsPigmentPlanning skill. Use before building anything to gather requirements through structured discovery questions. Covers dimensions, UX, data, governance, and planning cycles. Load this skill during Phase 0 of building-a-full-application.
- Iterating With Previous And CyclesPigmentExecution skill. Use when writing PREVIOUS, PREVIOUSOF, or PREVIOUSBASE formulas, configuring iterative calculation cycles, or debugging circular dependency errors.
- Naming And Organizing ApplicationsPigmentExecution skill. Use when naming or organizing Pigment Applications, folders, and blocks so models stay navigable, formula-safe, and consistent across teams.
- Profiling Model PerformancePigmentExecution skill. Use when investigating slow inputs, slow calculations, or timeouts with the Performance Insights tools (performance_profile_change, performance_profile_change_scope_details, performance_slowest_changes, performance_changes_statistics, get_top_blocks_by_performance).
- Securing With Access RightsPigmentExecution skill. Use when restricting which users can read or write specific data cells based on dimension values, building AR metrics, or debugging access issues. Do NOT use for managing Roles or Permissions.
- Setting Up CalendarPigmentExecution skill. Use when configuring an application calendar — choosing calendar type, fiscal year, date range, and time dimensions.
- Sharing Data Between ApplicationsPigmentExecution skill. Use when sharing metrics or lists between Pigment Applications via Libraries and cross-Application formula references.
- Solving Financial PlanningPigmentPlanning skill. FP&A use cases: budget/expense planning, revenue forecasting, P&L reporting, multi-currency, financial consolidation. Each use case has inline guidance; load sub-files only for advanced patterns.
- Solving Sales PerformancePigmentPlanning skill. Sales performance use cases: quota planning, commission calculations, territory assignment, attainment tracking, pipeline coverage. Each use case has inline guidance.
- Solving Supply ChainPigmentPlanning skill. Supply chain use cases: demand planning, inventory management, procurement planning, S&OP alignment. Each use case has inline guidance.
- Solving Workforce PlanningPigmentPlanning skill. Workforce planning use cases: headcount tracking, hiring pipeline, compensation planning, employee transfers, HRIS integration. Each use case has inline guidance; load sub-files only for advanced patterns.
- Understanding Pigment ModelingPigmentFoundational skill. Read this skill first, for planning or doing any action in Pigment (creating an app, modifying an app, writing a formula or designing a view). It's a full tour of the platform and its features, the mental model you need to understand it and an explanation of the principle of Pigment modeling.
- Using Formula FunctionsPigmentExecution skill. Use when drafting or debugging a Pigment formula that calls built-in functions. Covers all function signatures, parameters, return types, and usage examples grouped by category.
- Using Formula ModifiersPigmentExecution skill. Use when a formula's source metric dimensions differ from the target metric — apply BY, ADD, REMOVE, KEEP, SELECT, FILTER, EXCLUDE, TOPARENTLIST, or TOSUBSET. Also covers arrow-mapping syntax (BY ... ->) and tiered lookup patterns.
- Using List SubsetsPigmentExecution skill. Use when creating, modifying, or reasoning about List Subsets — mirror dimensions, same-dimension-on-two-axes, cohort modeling, restricted dropdowns, iterative performance optimization, or any request involving subsets.
- Using Mapped DimensionsPigmentExecution skill. Use when modeling dynamic or time-dependent hierarchies, card metrics for flexible reporting (e.g. headcount by team/function via BY-arrow mappings), or any scenario where reporting breakdowns must differ from the structural dimensions on the metric.
- Using Search ToolsPigmentExecution skill. Choosing between the discovery tools and calling them cheaply: why breadth is free but call count is not, and lineage versus full impact analysis. Load before exploring an application, resolving block names, or checking what a change breaks.
- Writing Performant FormulasPigmentExecution skill. Use when reviewing or finalizing Pigment formulas before delivery. Provides the mandatory pre-delivery checklist, sparsity preservation rules, scope-first patterns, and anti-patterns to avoid.
- Writing Pigment FormulasPigmentExecution skill. Load it before the first `validate_formula`, or before any `create_metric`, `bulk_update_metrics`, `create_list_property` or `update_list_property` call that sets a formula; never write a formula without loading it first.
